EDU 401. 2 School Internship Phase - 2

Week 1 : 14-06-2023 - 17-06-2023                                        As per B. Ed curriculum our four semester teaching practice for thirty days started on 14th June 2023. I got Kristraj Higher Secondary School, Kollam for my internship programme. Along with me Simi from my Social Science optional, Ashna and Ahinasha from English optional, Dona from Physical Science optional were also there. I got VIII C for teaching. The concerned teacher of VIII C assigned me to take the chapter 1 " The River Valley Civilizations" from part 1. Indus valley civilization,major sites, features of cities, drainage system, animal husbandary, weight and measures discussed in the classroom.  Students were attentive and actively engaged in classroom activities. 

Week 2 : 19-06-2023 - 22-06-2023

             

            I continued the same chapter " The River Valley Civilization" . Harappan handicrafts, belief system, causes of fall of Harappan civilization, features of egyptian civilization, mesopotomian civilization, Chinese civilization were discussed in the classroom. Our optional teacher came to observation while taking Egyptian Civilization. Egyptian Civilization was taken using story telling method as per innovative lesson plan. Teacher give adequate instructions to improve teaching skills. New chapter " In search of earth secrets" started. Sources of information of earth interior discussed. Usage of ICT enhance interest of students. Vedios helps to drag attention of students.

Week 3 : 26-06-2023 - 30-06-2023

      I continued the same chapter. Layers of earth, types of rocks, rock cycle, weathering, types of weathring, soil, factors influencing soil formation were discussed. Different techniques and strategies were used according to the class environment. Students are more interested in usage of vedios and pictures. Vedios helped easy conduct and understanding of geogrphical concept. 

Week 4 : 05-07-2023 - 07-07-2023

      Perishing of soil is taken using jurisprudential method and concluded the chapter "In search of earth secrets". Started new chapter " Our Government". Organs of government and their function were discussed using advance organizer model. Students are attentive in class and created their own ideas in social issues. 

Week 5 : 10-07-2023 -14-07-2023

     I continued the same chapter "Our Government". Legislature in India, legislative process, state legislature, executive, President, functions of President, Vice President, functions of Vice President, Union Council of Ministers were discussed. Different methods and strategies used as per class room environment. General teacher Byju sir came for observation while taking state legislature, executive and types of executive, President and his electoral college. Sir emphasized on the effective usage of black board. Students energetically engaged in classroom activities. Students are enthusiastic in classroom to know more about organs of government.

Week 6 : 19-07-2023 - 22 -07-2023

        I concluded chapter " Our Government". Prime Minister, functions of prime minister, state executive, structure of judiciary, cases considered by Supreme Court, High Court and subordinate courts were discussed. Student were energetic in the class room because of new knowledge to them. Two days were celebrated as sports day. Students participated in different items. The main items were running race. In second day table tennis academy inaugurated. The inauguration was done by Olympian A.Radhika Suresh. The finals were flagged off with much competitive spirit and sportsmanship.

Week 7 - 24-07-2023 - 29-07-2023 

    Started new chapter Ancient Tamilakam and concluded it. Megalith, megalithic monuments, megalithic period, major sites of megalithic period, Sangam literature, classification of Sangam works, tinai, different tinais, exchange system discussed. Different methods and techniques were used as per environment of class. Given introduction to chapter Reading Maps. Definition of map, science of map making, essentials of map, types of different maps were discussed in classroom. Students were curious to know more about maps. Pictures were used for easy understanding of maps.

Week 8 - 31-07-2023 - 04-08-2023

           Continued the chapter Reading Maps. Types of maps, classification of maps based on function and scale, Different scales of map and how to measure actual distance using maps, discussed in the classroom. Pictures, power point presentation and charts helped for conveying information to students. Students actively participated in all activities. Optional teacher came for second time observation. Achievement test were done for students including chapters River valley civilizations, In search of earth secrets and Our Government. Examination were conducted for 25 marks and given time were one hour. 30 students were participated in the examination. After acheivement test diagnostic test were done on topic Interior of earth. August 2nd celebrated as SPC day. Student Police Cadet is high school project based intiative of Kerala Police. There was full pleged assembly. Deputy mayor and representative of SPC given message to students. History of SPC in Kollam district and demerits of drug abused were discussed.

Week 9 - 07-08-2023 - 08-08-2023

         Concluded the chapter Reading Maps. Directions and signs, symbols were discussed. After diagnostic test remedial teaching were given to students. As part of physical education yoga classes were given to students.In last classes rivised previous lessons. These thirty days were unforgettable. It provided experience to handle students in future.
